About Me

My name is Marie Motil and I'm an American from California. I came to Austria in 1994 after finishing my English degree at Utah State University. I intended on staying in the country for about one year but have lived here in Salzburg for over 20 years. I married an Austrian and have two boys aged 9 and 15 who are being raised bilingually.

I originally came to Austria as a volleyball professional for one year but decided to stay and become an English teacher and enjoy all the benefits of living and working in a european country. I am currently working for Wifi Salzburg teaching Business English courses but have also taught privately as well as for a variety of companies in the Salzburg region.  I have taught every level from beginning to advanced. I come from a family of teachers and enjoy the work very much. Over the years I have learned to speak fluent German and have acquired an ear for the typical mistakes between german and english speakers.

I enjoy the European way of life and enjoy the beautiful mountains in the Salzburg region. I am in the mountains nearly every week whether its a short walk up the Heuberg near my house or on one of the many trails on the Gaisberg. Every summer I take an overnight hiking weekend with my girlfriends, and sleep in a hut high in the mountains. (It helps that my husband is the founder of http://www.alpintouren.com/ so I always know where I'm going!) Needless to say, I really love nature.

Therefore, I decided to combine the two things I enjoy so much and created Walk & Talk English Coaching in Nature.
